Here is How to Make finding a Roomie Fun!

Looking for a roommate? Yeah, it can sound a little stressful, but trust us, it doesn’t have to be! Whether you’re a student, young professional, or just trying to cut down on rent, finding the right roommate can actually be pretty exciting. Imagine meeting someone who shares your love for music and coffee. Roommates aren’t just about splitting rent, they can become friends for life.

When I first thought of getting a roommate I did not like the idea. Personally, I enjoyed living alone and I liked having my personal space so the idea of a roommate was not very pleasing. But liking in a big city such as Boston, is expensive. So, having someone to split the rent with would ease the financial burden for me. Plus, a part of me was intrigued as I have alway heard stories of roommates becoming best friends.

So, I decided to start the search for my new roommate and maybe potential friend. The searching part was definitely not easy. I spent days looking at sites, messaging people and interviewing them to see if we matched. Eventually, I found the right person for me, she had a similar lifestyle with me and our hobbies were quite similar as well.

After a few months of living with my new roommate I realized it was the best decision I have made since moving to Boston. Sure the split rent was great, but I knew that, what I did not expect was to find someone so similar to me. We instantly clicked and became very close. I loved having someone that would hear my problems and give me advices.

SO, sure living alone was great and very comfortable for me, but there is a comforting feeling about having someone at home. My roommate became my best friend and now we are inseparable. SO, Thank you RoomieRadar for helping me find my new bestie.

Here are some tips in Making New BFF’s

  1. Take the risk. This experience showed me that the best things come from taking some risks in life.
  2. Do not Settle. Meet a lot of people, find the right person for you, do not settle for the first person that you meet.
  3. Make everything clear from the start. The rent, your pet peeves, the chores, everything that is important to you, so that there will not be misunderstandings later.
  4. Have fun together.

Stop waiting! Jump in, create your profile, and find someone who’s not just a roommate but could be a great friend, too. The search can be fun, you just have to start!
